Steel Arena is currently the most modern and only multifunctional arena in Slovakia. It was opened on February 24, 2006. Located in the centre of Košice, this arena with maximum seating capacity of 8,347 spectators (6,088 tickets will be sold to public) features also a hotel and restaurant, various bars, snack bars and 40 VIP boxes and VIP zones. During the 2011 IIHF World Championship the Steel Arena will be used for the Pre-Round and Qualifying Round.

After the Riga voting, construction works on a new training hall commenced, representing a total investment of more than 4,65 million EUR. The construction should be finished by December 2010. It will be connected to the southern side of Steel Arena, featuring an ice hockey rink of 26 x 56 metres (official IIHF dimensions are 30 x 61 metres) and seating capacity of up to 600 spectators.
