Everything is in place and ready for the visitors, the arena survived the preparation matches between Slovakia and Austria and Belarus, which were both sold out. All there is left is to hope the World Championship will begin, continue and finish smoothly and that the visitors and fans will enjoy the arena, the games and their stay in Slovakia.

The Diamant Hotel, Szigetköz**** is a complex of buildings with an area of 4000 m2, which is situated on a 5 hectare large area near the water. The Mercure Bratislava Centrum hotel is located just a short walk from Bratislava Station and 4 miles from Bratislava International Airport.

All rooms and apartments are air-conditioned. They are equipped with LCD TVs with more than 50 international channels, as well as tea and coffee-making facilities. Apartments feature fully equipped kitchenettes. Towels are changed every second day and every third day the apartments are being cleaned completely.

St. Michael’s Gate, leading to the historic quarter, is only 440 yards from the Apartment Residence. The Postova tram stop can be found right in front of the building.

During Slovakia Cup (11-12 February 2011, attending Slovakia, Belarus, Germany and Switzerland), the maximum number of visitors will be limited to 2,000 per match, the buffets won’t be opened and the visitors will only receive 1 bottle of water when entering the stadium. After Slovakia Cup the construction workers will return and finish the reconstruction. Let’s hope they will make it…:)

Slovakia won the Gold Medal after scoring 37 goals, against such top-quality teams as Canada, Sweden or Russia. In the Final Game, Slovakia beat Russia 4:3. Slovakia’s Miroslav Šatan became the tournament all-time Scoring Leader with 5 goals and 8 assistances. Slovak ice hockey legend Peter Bondra became tournament’s Goal Scoring Leader with 7 goals.
